(Yicai Global) July 17 -- NYU Shanghai will more than double the number of students this fall due to the global travel restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Some 2,300 Chinese undergraduates, as well as 800 graduate students from the sister campus in New York and NYU Abu Dhabi, will be joining the 1,700 students who have already registered for this fall semester, the Chinese-American joint research university said in a press release today.
The educational institution, formed through a partnership between NYU and East China Normal University, will turn seven WeWork floors into classrooms and add 75 faculty staff to handle the increased traffic.
"It is gratifying to know that our university can continue to promote healthy bridges between China and the rest of the world while we await the restoration of more normal opportunities to travel across national borders," said Vice Chancellor Jeffrey Lehman.
